Spring Festival in China

In China, the most important festival is neither Christmas nor New Year's Day,but the "Spring Festival". It is called Chinese New Year here. The festival comes either in late january or early Februry.Every one goes home to celebrate the festival with their parents or elders.

I had a most memorable festival , the Spring Festival, that was celebrated with my parents and my grandparents in DanDong. On the eve of the Spring Festival, the weather in northeast China was very cold. The ground was coverd with snow. In the evening , five of us sat around the table and ate the dumplings that we had made ourselves. This is the tradition in China. After dinner, we went to the park to enjoy a fireworks and the landtern display. This is the highlight of the evening.Though the weather was cold, there were still many people in the park. The firework was spectacular--as if there had been a lot of stars shinning in the sky,and then it burst into sparks. These glittering flowers of fire drifted down, making bright tracks in the dark curtain of night.More beautiful than the fireworks. The ice was glistening and translucent, like crystal, under the light. We forgot the cold weather and entered a dreamlike fairyland.

It was an unfogettable night and it was also the last Spring Festival with fireworks and lantern display that i have seen until now. The pace of modern life is so fast that fewer and fewer families hold reunion dinners. I still think back fondly to that magical night.

Birthday Party

I can still remember that i had a wonderful time when i was 19 years old.My birthday is on the 25th of the Februry. My friends knew i would be leaving for my university in China,so , they all wanted to give me an unforgettable birthday party.

I knew they were all busy preparing for the party that whole afternoon in a friend' home but i did not know what on earth they were doing. They just told me to be there at 8:00pm.

The evening, i went to my friend home with a mixed feelings, doubtful yet excited and hopeful. when they opened the door , i was shocked by what i saw. The room was dark. They had turned off all the lights and lit only three candles. Moreover, the candles were suspended in the middle of the room and gave off a flickering light. There was light music flowing in the air.

Then suddenly, all my friends jumped out . One of them gave me a very big picture of iverson who is my favourite basketball star.Another held up a lovely birthday cake with 19 burning candles on it . They all shouted "happy birthday!"

Later, we sang songs and ate the cake . we talked and played almost the whole night. what an impresive birthday!

compare and contrast two waste disposal schemes

Nowadays , as the population problems become more severe and people concentrate more on health so many waste dispasal schemes have been brought up. i just want to introduce two schemes and give a brief comparation of the two.
i think the most common schemes is the incineration option , which can help reduce the landfilling. however, to carry out this schemes, the goverment will suffer a lot from the political and financial problems.
To solve the political and financial problem, many local authorities are turning to a system called zero waste. Zero waste does not mean the acurate zero, instead , that means we are going to find ways to turn waste into a proficable resource or design it out of the system altogether . in my opinion, the zero scheme is definitely better than the incineration option.
In my country-China, known as a big-population country in the world, people produce a lot of rubbish every day and I admit that the environment has been badlly damaged already. Because of the large amount of rubbish and a lot of landfilling , the cineration option will cost a lot of the goverment . Therefore, the ideal way for China is the zero waste scheme . On one hand, it protects the environment, on the other hand ,it will make a profilable resource.
